Alaska Bar Association Webinar Discusses Truth and Ethics in Law

An attorney with more than three decades of experience, Bruce Weyhrauch leads his own practice in Juneau, Alaska, where he represents clients in cases involving labor relations, marine pilotage, natural resources, and litigation and appeals. Bruce Weyhrauch also belongs to the Alaska Bar Association, which offers webinars on legal ethics such as The Truth, The Whole Truth and Nothing But the Truth.

Legal humorist Sean Carter will lead this discussion on legal ethics as it pertains to client engagement and the attorney’s obligation to speak truthfully to clients, judges, and opposing counsel. The webinar explores the human inclination for dishonesty and how to avoid traps that often lead to incidents of dishonesty.

Carter’s discussion will include examples of bad ethical behavior drawn from current and past nominees of his annual Ethy Awards. Topics presented during the webinar range from candor toward the tribunal and truthful marketing practices to disclosure obligations and responding to disciplinary bodies.

The Truth, The Whole Truth and Nothing But the Truth will take place on July 19, 2017 and provide participants with one hour of ethics continuing education credit.
